The Corner Grind

Are you in need of a new local coffee shop? Or maybe you have a great life ambition to check out every tiny coffee shop in every tiny town. Which by the way, sounds like an amazing life goal. Well, if you ever find yourself in Elburn, Illinois, be sure to stop at The Corner Grind. You'll have to find Elburn first, which isn't as hard as it might sound for a town that only has 6,700 people in it. As it turns out, you can take the train from Chicago there. It will be the last stop, but it does bring you into the tiny town where the train cuts through.

Once you get to Elburn, be sure to stop at The Corner Grind on Main Street. Not only do they have amazing coffee, but they also have loose-leaf teas available. You can order one of their monthly signature coffee drinks, or create your own with their wide selection of syrups. When I visited on October 18th, I enjoyed one of their seasonal drinks. I enjoyed their Sugar n' Spice Latte. It was flavored with brown sugar and cinnamon. To say it was delightful would be an understatement. If you aren't in the mood for coffee (I wouldn't know what that is like, but I'm sure it happens) or tea, they do offer some great smoothie options as well.

If you're heading in there and plan to be hungry, don't worry. They not only have amazing bakery options like their lemon blackberry muffins, cinnamon roll muffin, and doughnuts; but they also have great breakfast sandwiches. If you find yourself there at lunch, you'll find that they have a few salads to choose from as well as a great variety of sandwiches. They also have weekly specials that are usually two different types of sandwiches and a soup of the week. They get all their meats and cheeses from Boar's Head so you know it is quality and fresh.

One of the other things you may notice about this place is that it is a local favorite. Not only is there generally a steady stream of people during meal times, but regulars are greeted by name. Not only do the employees know some of the regulars, but customers greet other customers. It is small town charm in a small little cafe. As of now there isn't any kind of indoor eating, it is all strictly take-out at this time. But once things get back to normal, you'll be able to sit inside at either the bar that faces the outside sidewalk or one of the tables inside. You can enjoy the free wifi and more than likely you'll hear a train or two come through town!
